A big thanks from everyone at Sideways to all those who competed, judged, sponsored, watched, photographed, recorded, volunteered, BBQ’d, and helped out in any way. The support was awesome and the event was sick. Lots of great skateboarding from lots of great skateboarders. We raised just under $300.00 for the Corner Brook CYN Skateboard Committee.

Thanks to  Element, Nixon, Von Zipper, Volcom, WeSC, Nomis, Real, Spitfire, Anti-Hero, Girl, Chocolate, and all our reps who helped out.

Here’s the results of the Sideways 1st Annual Fall Classic:

14 and Under

1. Bowen French
2. Tristan Barnes
3. Quintan Gillingham

15-18

1. Scott Rowsell
2. Kyle Hackett
3. Erik Fisher

19 and Up

1. BJ Randell
2. Adam Cassell
3. Josh Keough

Element FlaT Bar Best Trick

19 and Up: Josh Keough

15-18: Erik Fisher

We should have some pics of the event up this week on the blog as well as on Facebook. It’s great to see everyone skating and hopefully we can run another event or two before the snow flies and raise some more money for the Corner Brook Skateboard Committee.

Thanks,

The Sideways Staff

Vans Downtown Showdown Live Webcast

Posted: September 23, 2009 in Uncategorized

Vans is putting off an awesome contest on Saturday and you can check it out live on the intronet. More info here http://www.vans.com/vans/events.asp?id=37989&tour=

It takes place on the Paramount Studio lot, you know, where they make movies. Companies design pretty cool stuff to skate. Here’s some examples from last year’s event.

Should get you pumped for the contest on Sunday.

We just received 2 new limited edition Pearl Jam T’s from Volcom. Have a look.

We’ve got some copies of the second issue of King Shit magazine and the new SBC Skateboard in at the shop. If you skate and you buy something you get one. Easy as that. And maybe if you’re cool enough or you bring me a present I’ll give you one.

EWWWWWW…….Hamburger Hands!

Check out this video of Jason Murphy, a longboarder from Newfoundland who pushed his way 905 kilometers across the province this past summer from Port aux Basques to St. John’s. On his way through Corner Brook, he was in need of some new shoes. Since he was already wearing a pair of Element shoes, when he asked us to help him out we gladly set him up with a new pair with the help of our good friend and local Element rep Mark Goosney. Pretty cool to see stuff like this happening close to home and we’re happy to help support it. Thanks to Mark, Fist Fulla Fives, Element, and Jason too. Hope your legs are feeling better.
